Intersegmental Traction

Intersegmental traction is a therapy which induces passive motion into the spine for the purpose of increasing mobility in the spine. Since discs have a poor blood supply, they get nutrients from the circulation of fluids surrounding the spinal joints. Subluxations prevent this natural circulation and can cause disc thinning and degeneration to occur. Intersegmental traction will increase and restore necessary elasticity and motion to the spine as well as improve circulation of spinal fluids. This therapy is usually performed prior to any adjustments at this office.

Most patients refer to this therapy as "the roller table" in reference to the table rollers changing position from neck to low back and vice versa during the treatment. The therapy is relaxing and is always set to patient comfort i.e. the intensity of the rollers will allow relaxation of the patient musculature without causing any increase in patient symptomatology or pain.
