Kids, Teens, and Chiropractic: What Two 2026 Studies Found
When it comes to your child's health, you want care that is gentle, thoughtful, and built around their needs. Two recent studies released in September 2026 give a clearer look at why families bring kids to the chiropractor and how parents view their experience.
WHY FAMILIES TURN TO CHIROPRACTIC
A research team in Australia and Canada reviewed visits by 605 young patients, ages 17 and under, treated by 79 chiropractors. (1) Health maintenance was the top reason for seeking care in every age group, showing that many parents think of chiropractic as an important part of keeping their children healthy and on the move. Back problems were the most common issue chiropractors diagnosed, and adolescents made up nearly half of all visits. That makes sense: growing bodies, heavy backpacks, sports, and long hours at screens all place real demands on young spines.
PARENTS FEEL HEARD AND RESPECTED
Another study followed 671 parents before and after their child's course of chiropractic care. (2) Parents rated three parts of their experience: communication, shared decision-making, and the respect and warmth shown by the chiropractor and office team. On the whole, parents reported favorable experiences in all three areas, and their satisfaction with care was positive. In short, parents felt listened to, part of the decision-making, and treated kindly, which means so much when the patient is your child.
